Vietnam's textile-garment export turnover $16 bn in H1 '18
Vietnam is among the world’s five biggest textile exporters and producers, with textile and garment export turnover hitting $16 billion in the first half of 2018 — a rise of more than 14 per cent year on year. PetroVietnam, Vinatex discuss reviving PVTEX plant
Discussions are under way between PetroVietnam and textile and clothing conglomerate Vinatex, both state-owned, for a possible resumption of operations at the Dinh Vu Polyester Fibre Plant (PVTEX).
The Vietnamese textile and apparel industry attracted more than $750 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first six months of 2017, mostly from investment capital increases in existing projects, despite a reduced number of FDI projects in recent years and the US withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) last January.
