Following a positive August, Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports entered September 2025 with slight adjustments, reflecting seasonal order cycles and fluctuating demand in key markets. The total export value in September is estimated at 3.96 billion USD, down 10.9% from August but still up 13.2% over the same period last year, indicating that the sector’s recovery momentum remains on a solid path.Standing with our enterprises, VITAS continues to provide timely, relevant updates on domestic and international developments, bringing you the most practical content in Newsletter 08/2025.
In August 2025, as the whole nation joyfully celebrated the 80th Anniversary of National Day (September 2), Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry recorded developments aligned with market realities: total export turnover was estimated at 4.44 billion USD, down 0.9% from July and 4.5% over the same period last year. This adjustment reflects actual production and trade conditions in a cyclical pause of orders, especially against an unpredictable market backdrop. In July 2025, Vietnam’s textile-garment industry posted a strong upswing, with total export turnover estimated at 4,45 billion USD, up 8,2% from June and up 21% over the same period last year. Cumulatively, the first seven months saw exports reach 26,33 billion USD, up 9% over the same period in 2024, signaling a clear recovery after a slower spell.
That momentum comes with major headwinds: intensifying competition from other producers, tougher requirements on green and sustainable standards, and volatile global economic and trade conditions, especially the newly applied 20% reciprocal tariff by the United States on goods of Vietnamese origin. This will be a crucial test of the industry’s adaptability and capacity for innovation in the period ahead.
Standing with textile-garment businesses, VITAS brings you the latest domestic and international updates, and practical insights in Newsletter No. 07/2025:
