VITAS and TTRI Promote Cooperation on Digital Product Passport (DPP) for the Textile and Garment Industry

Overview of the working session

The working session was attended by Mr. Ching Tang Huang and Ms. Shu Fang Chang representing TTRI; Mr. Dung Tran, representative of the To the Finish Line (TFL) Program; and Ms. Chi Phan, representative of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Ching Tang Huang, representative of TTRI, stated that TTRI has been researching and closely following the development of the European Union's (EU) Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and DPP since 2022. At the same time, TTRI has participated in DPP pilot activities for the textile industry in Taiwan, as well as international cooperation programs on standards, data, and system interoperability.

During the working session, the parties focused on discussing the practical needs of businesses: accessing updated and reliable DPP information amidst a flood of commercialized information and solutions. In addition, the parties discussed the United Nations Transparency Protocol (UNTP) and cross-border data sharing within global supply chains.

The working session is expected to pave the way for making DPP a central topic in upcoming technical dialogues between the textile and garment of Vietnam and Taiwan. Through this, it will provide practical support for both business communities to better prepare for and meet the stringent new Digital Product Passport requirements from international markets.
