Vietnam textile enterprises and localization strategy
The domestic market is being evaluated as a potential "land" for Vietnam textile and garment enterprises. For a long time, enterprises have mainly focused on export and have not paid much attention to the domestic market. For the global logistics industry, the COVID-19 pandemic has been both a boon and a bane. It has been a bane because it had to face several challenges (and is still facing many of them) including, but not limited to, shortage of containers, blockage of a sea-route, increasing sea and air freight charges, container ships' congestion at US seaports, unavailability of truck drivers in the UK, growing demand for parcel services due to e-commerce boost, and shipping delays.
A fashionable decoupling: Generating value without growth
Read any fashion or textiles company trading statement and it will invariably begin with “Revenue growth was…”, and then describe whether growth was “in-line” or “missed” expectations for the reporting period. However, as brands continue to focus on sustainability, should volume growth still be used by investors in the textile sector as a valuation driver? Where will revenue growth come from in the future if not from volume growth?
