Dear Sirs and Madams,
IDH’s Race to the Top programme (RttT) is an initiative that aims to reshape Vietnam’s apparel and footwear sector by promoting and embedding sustainable manufacturing practices. Since it started in 2016, the program has helped inform and improve national policy and has engaged over two hundred of Vietnam facilities, helping improve their social, environmental and financial performance. Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) is key member of RttT. In 2020, RttT collaborated with the Apparel Impact Institute (Aii) to help facilities gain financial savings and determine the positive environmental impact potential in dozens of facilities, both tier 1 and tier 2 facilities.
Following the success of the last Peer-to-Peer learning events, which have been organized annually under the Race to the Top program, IDH and Aii and VITAS are going to organise a similar event for both graduated and newly enrolled mills. The purposes of the Peer to Peer learning event are to grow knowledge and share of learnings regarding the implementation of Mill Optimization projects and Resources Efficiency Programs, exploring new opportunities for improving the apparel and footwear sector, networking, and discussions. Furthermore, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will share updates on Government’s policy related to reducing Green House Gas emissions and cleaner production. The below is information about the event:
