International Trade Fair for Processing Textile and Flexible Materials Frankfurt am Main, 4 to 7 May 2015

Texprocess very well booked

Excellent economic data from the German garment and leather technology sector

‘Innovative Apparel Show’ a new source of inspiration for fashion labels

With four months still to go before Texprocess opens its doors, 95 percent of the exhibition space occupied by the previous fair has already been sold. Thus, Messe Frankfurt is looking forward to a very well booked third edition of the Leading International Trade Fair for Processing Textile and Flexible Materials (4 to 7 May 2015). “Clearly, the market leaders find the concept of Texprocess compelling. At this point in time two years ago, we had only sold 70 percent of the space taken by the previous event”, says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies. Moreover, new exhibitors from all parts of the textile value chain have announced their intention to take part.

The registration level for Texprocess is stable or increasing in all product segments. More exhibitors are expected in the ‘textile machinery’, ‘Stitching, joining and fastening technology, automation technology’ and ‘textile finishing’ segments. There have also been positive developments in the fields of ‘cutting room and automation technology’ and ‘product processing and finishing’.

The following world-marketing leaders have already registered for the trade fair: Amann, Assyst, Barudan, Bierrebi Italia, Brother, bullmer, Busche, Coats, Dürkopp Adler, Expert Systemtechnik, Ferd. Schmetz, FK Group, Gerber, Global International, Gütermann, Happy Industrial Corporation, Hornung Indupress, Human Solutions, Juki, Kansai, KSL, Macpi, Martin Group, Morgan Tecnica, Ozbilim Tekstil Makinalari, Pathfinder Australia, Pfaff, Rotondi, Tajima Industries, Teseo, Veit, Vibemac, X’ian Typical, Yamato, Yin Technology and ZSK. The new exhibitors at Texprocess include Anita B, Avery Dennison, Bierrebi Italia, E-NYGMA, Epson, MMS, Nucleus, Ozbilim Tekstil Makinalari, Racing Sewing Machine, REXEL and Schips.

Thus, the range of products to be seen will once again cover all stages of the textile value chain, i.e., from design, IT and cutting, via sewing, joining, embroidery and knitting, to finishing, textile printing and logistics.

The successful layout developed for Texprocess 2013 will be retained in 2015: In Hall 4.0, trade visitors will find numerous new products in the design, IT, CAD/CAM and cutting segments and at the IT@Texprocess special area. In Hall 5, exhibitors present innovative machines and accessories for sewing, embroidering and joining. Rounding off the spectrum at Texprocess are embroidery technology, finishing and textile logistics in Hall 6.0.

Multi-faceted complementary programme of events with the first ‘Innovative Apparel Show’

An extensive complementary programme of events and numerous special shows will be held within the framework of Texprocess 2015. The new heart of Texprocess and the concurrent Techtextil is the ‘Innovative Apparel Show’ in the foyer of Halls 5.1 and 6.1. There, four universities and fashion schools will present their innovative designs on all four days of the fair. After a stage presentation, they will explain the processes and materials used. These and further creations by the students will be on show at a special exhibition in Hall 6.1. “The German apparel industry is always on the lookout for innovative designs and new materials. Therefore, I welcome the Innovative Apparel Show because it will also give fashion labels the chance to gain inspiration from young fashion and textile designers”, says Thomas Rasch, General Manager of GermanFashion.

On all four days of the fair, the Texprocess Forum will spotlight subjects of topical interest to the sector, e.g., sourcing, sustainability, new technologies, quality management, logistics and standards, in Hall 5. DTB – Dialogue Textile Apparel is responsible for the programme.

At IT@Texprocess, the IT market place in Hall 4.0, exhibitors present their latest IT solutions for the apparel industry. At present, the trend continues towards product lifecycle management systems (PLM), cloud applications and 3D CAD systems that permit individual garments to be produced in real time and without fittings. PLM systems in particular have developed from a single software product to a variety of programmes that regulate and continuously optimise the entire lifecycle of a product.

For the third time running, Messe Frankfurt will give the Texprocess Innovation Award for the best new developments at the fair. Entries are invited from all exhibitors of Texprocess 2015, as well all other companies, institutes, universities and individuals. The deadline for receipt is 20 February 2015. The awards in the various categories will be presented during the joint opening ceremony of Texprocess and Techtextil in Room Dimension (Hall 4.2) on 4 May 2015. At the same time, all products selected for the Texprocess Innovation Award will be on show in a special exhibition in Hall 4.0.

Moreover, universities, institutes and fashion schools have the opportunity to present their courses of study and teaching programmes free of charge at the Texprocess Campus.

No separate ‘Source it’ area

In 2015, ‘Source it’ will not take the form of a separate area but will be integrated into Texprocess as a product group. In addition, Sourcing will be a major topic of the Texprocess Forum. “Despite good inquiries, we have decided not to organise a special ‘Source it’ area. The countries and associations that have so far registered are not sufficient to offer our trade visitors the variety of production options they are used to at, for example, Apparel Sourcing in Paris and New York. Moreover, in the past, many of the ‘Source it’ exhibitors, such as those from Bulgaria and Albania, profited from official trade-fair sponsoring and association support. Additionally, our trade visitors can obtain a lot of information about sourcing at the Texprocess Forum and from our exhibitors”, says Olaf Schmidt.

23 percent increase in sales of German garment and leather technology

VDMA Garment and Leather Technology, the conceptual partner of Texprocess, registered a considerable increase in demand for German and European garment and leather technology last year. “From January to October 2014, our member companies increased their sales in real terms by 23 percent compared to the same period the previous year. In terms of orders, this amounted to an increase of 16 percent. These are excellent results, particularly against the turbulent circumstances prevailing on the markets”, says Elgar Straub, Director General, VDMA Garment and Leather Technology. “A decisive competitive factor continues to be the integration of Industry 4.0 and, therefore, the digital intertwining of the design, processing and logistics of garments and textiles. Another important factor is sustainable production, especially in view of the increasing degree of official regulation. Texprocess is the most important technology platform for our industry and showcases all products and market developments. Texprocess is where the future is decided.”

As in previous years, Texprocess will be held concurrently with Techtextil, International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens (also from 4 to 7 May 2015). Both fairs start and end at the same day now. A total of 1,652 exhibitors and 40,000 international trade visitors attended Texprocess und Techtextil 2013 – a new record. Over 12,100 of these visitors saw the products and services being shown by 330 exhibitors at Texprocess. Additionally, more than 8,100 Techtextil visitors also looked in on Texprocess to gather information about the exhibits there.
